Aligning your Heart with God

Proverbs 4:23

Keep thy heart more than anything that is guarded; for out of it are the issues of life.

Guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life," emphasizes that the state of your heart is crucial for your actions and overall well-being.

Proverbs 3: 5-6

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

This passage emphasizes the importance of trusting in God with your entire being, rather than relying on your own understanding. It encourages submission to God's will and promises that He will guide your path.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and dying for me on the cross. Your precious blood washes me clean of every sin. You are my Lord and Savior, now and forever. Because of Your finished work, I am now a beloved child of God. Thank You for giving me eternal life and filling my heart with Your peace and joy, and strength.

Amen

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Proverbs 13:12

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,

but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

So go about expecting, or you might miss it.

1 Corinthians 13: 7-8

Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].

Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end].

{another translation-Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends}

Love drives out fear.  Which helps your faith

Matthew 22: 37-38

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect).

This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.

Why - Because Love Drives Out Fear

And what is fear-it’s a liar- it comes from the enemy, and fear causes sickness.

Romans 12:2

Don't be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.

Matthew 6:30-33 (Message Translation)

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

Getting to know who God is, and who we are with Him (or Him in us).

Spending quality time with Him, and including Him in your life all day long, for every moment, every trial, every win, every question/decision. This develops FAITH.

Your cup of suffering ended with Jesus, and He gave you a cup of salvation.

So pour out the old cup (give it to Jesus) of your suffering, and drink from His, and thank Him.

Most importantly, listen to Him. Give space and time to listen.

Renew your heart and mind

With what

With faith

Spiritual divine healing is not mental or physical

And your spirit is already perfect and healed  (reborn)

So what’s the disconnect

Your heart, faith.

Psalm 25: 4-5

Show me Your ways, oh Lord, teach me Your paths;

Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me.

For You are God my salvation; for You do I wait (expectantly) all the day long.

James 4:8

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. (double minded).

Mark 7:21

For from within, out of a person's heart, come evil thoughts (sexual immorality, theft, murder..)

Psalm 139: 1-4

You have looked deep into my heart, Lord, and You know all about me.

You know when I am resting or when I am working, and from Heaven You discover my thoughts.

You notice everything I do and everywhere I go.

Before I even speak a word, You know what I will say.

Deuteronomy 30:6

You and your descendants are stubborn, but the Lord will make you willing to obey Him and love Him with all your heart and soul, and you will enjoy a long life.

Psalm 51: 10

Create in me a pure heart, O God,

and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

We are trying to change our hearts to be like Jesus’ heart, like our Father’s heart.

Acts 15: 8-9

And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

1 John 4:17

In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.

Hebrews 10:22

So let's come near God with pure hearts and a confidence that comes from having faith. Let's keep our hearts pure, our consciences free from evil, and our bodies washed with clean water.

The work that He commissioned us to fulfill and complete was to administer distributive justice. To bring things in line with kingdom rule and restore dignity. To partner with Him in making things right. To bring things and people in line with who and what God called them and made them to be. Not to bring judgement, but life. What is due to people is good, not because of their goodness, but His goodness

Isaiah 42: 1-4 —see rest of 42

“Take a good look at My servant.  I’m backing Him to the hilt.

He’s the one I chose, and I couldn’t be more pleased with Him.

I’ve bathed Him with My Spirit, My life.

He’ll set everything right among the nations.

He won’t call attention to what He does with loud speeches or gaudy parades.

He won’t brush aside the bruised and the hurt and He won’t disregard the small and insignificant,

but He’ll steadily and firmly set things right.

He won’t tire out and quit. He won’t be stopped until He’s finished His work—to set things right on earth.

Matthew 6:9–15

Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. (For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.)

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen

What is the soul?  It is our mind, will, and emotions (heart).

It is our outer and carnal selves which are molded by the carnal world -our personality….until we become born again.

1 Samuel 16:7

7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “…The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Matthew 5: 8

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Ever hear ‘follow your heart’?

Jeremiah 17:9 says the heart is deceitful. (Mark 7:21)

But Romans 8:14-16 says

14 For those who are led by the (Holy) Spirit of God are children of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, “Abba,[c] Father!” 16 The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God

We are children, that must grow into sons and daughters of God,

or we can immaturely fall back into our carnal ways.

Your heart is your carnal soul, not of God, until we renew it (constantly/consistently).

Then we will have success in being mature sons and daughters.

1 Corinthians 3: 1-3

My friends, you are acting like the people of this world. That's why I could not speak to you as spiritual people. You are like babies as far as your faith in Christ is concerned. 2  So I had to treat you like babies and feed you milk. You could not take solid food, and you still cannot, 3 because you are not yet spiritual. You are jealous and argue with each other. This proves you are not spiritual and you are acting like the people of this world.

How do we grow our minds and will and heart in God?

Read the Word, and fellowship with Him daily.

Romans 12:2 ….let God change the way you think….

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:...

In Closing: When we align with God’s will, when our hearts are retaught to be like His, when we invite Holy Spirit into our hearts, everything else that’s not of God disappears.  Sickness, fear, anxiety, anger, lack, emptiness, loneliness, lust, pain, etc.

Everything that flows out of us flows from our heart.

And how do we accomplish this?  Practice, and faith.  (future notes on practicing and faith)

Prayer:

(Written by Chad Prather)

Father, we thank You for the gift of faith and for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith. Help us to fix our eyes on Him, recognizing His sacrifice on the cross and the joy that was set before Him.

As we run the race You have set before us, grant us the strength and perseverance to overcome every obstacle and distraction that may hinder our journey. Teach us to lay aside the weights of this world and to seek Your will in all we do. May we be filled with hope and courage, reflecting the light of Christ in our lives.

We pray that through every trial, we remain steadfast, knowing that our struggles are shaping us into the image of Your Son. Thank You for Your unfailing love and guidance.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
