Foundational Scripture for Restoration
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any person is in Christ he is a new creation ; the old has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
Acts 17:28
For in Him we live and move and exist.
As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring.’
Sons and Daughters (children of God).
Romans 11:36
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. [For all things originate with Him and come from Him; all things live through Him, and all things center in and tend to consummate and to end in Him.] To Him be glory forever! Amen (so be it).
Prayer:
When we say a restoration prayer, we repent of our ways and declare our desire to be more intimate with Christ.
Dear Lord, thank You for Your forgiveness. Thank You for not abandoning us to our mistakes, but for reaching out instead, to bring us home.
Gracious God, we come before You today, with contrite hearts and willing minds. Lord, thank You for Your loving-kindness that leads us to repentance. Thank You for the love You have poured out for us and all of Your children. Help us live out of that love today and everyday.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.
Matthew 4:17 and 3: 2
Repent (think differently; change your mind, regretting your sins and changing your conduct), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (at hand-Kairos-the time of fulfillment)
Looking at the biblical theme of restoration provides a foundation for understanding God’s unceasing quest to save His people and restore them to His image. (original design)
Can restoration happen overnight? Despite our often urgency to be closer to God, restoration is a process. The renewing of our individual hearts, our turning from worldly and fleshly ways, and returning to God is a continual process. Pray, seek an intimate relationship with God, and surround yourself with others who can help encourage you on your path to restoration.
Genesis 1:26-27
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in Our image, in Our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in His own image,
in the image of God, He created them; male and female He created them.
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].
It’s said that Jesus is the second Adam. (second chance Adam).
Before original sin was original Glory, original Destiny, original Identity, original Design.
We are not lost, looking for Jesus, Jesus says we are the Light of the World. We are called to Identify our lives in Him, for our lives here on earth.
On earth as it is in heaven… Matthew 6:10 (the Lord’s Prayer)
1 John 4:17
And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid of judgment, but we can face Him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.
Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness cannot overcome it.
Luke 17:21
When the Son of Man Arrives
20-21 Jesus, grilled by the Pharisees on when the kingdom of God would come, answered, “The kingdom of God doesn’t come by counting the days on the calendar. Nor when someone says, ‘Look here!’ or, ‘There it is!’ And why? Because God’s kingdom is already among you.”
Another translation Luke 17:
21 neither shall they say, Lo, here! or, There! for lo, the kingdom of God is within you.
Romans 5:10
10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, it is much more [certain], now that we are reconciled, that we shall be saved (daily delivered from sin’s dominion) through His [resurrection] life.
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, it is much more [certain], now that we are reconciled, that we shall be saved (daily delivered from sin’s dominion) through His [resurrection] life.
Romans 6:4
When we were baptized, we died and were buried with Christ. We were baptized, so we would live a new life, as Christ was raised to life by the glory of God the Father.
2 Corinthians 5:18-20
18 But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].
19 It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).
20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God
Hosea 6: 1-3
Come, let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up. After two days, he will revive us; on the third day, he will raise us up, that we may live before him. Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.
Romans 12:2
2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Examples of Restoration:
Luke 15:32 – The Prodigal Son
“But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”
This parable exemplifies God’s joy over a sinner’s repentance and return to Him. It highlights the theme of restoration not just to a previous state but to a renewed relationship with God, emphasizing His unconditional love and forgiveness.
Matthew 18:11-14 – The Lost Sheep
“For the Son of Man came to save the lost. What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?”
This passage illustrates Jesus’ mission of restoration. It shows God’s individual care and relentless pursuit of each person who has strayed, reflecting the depth of His concern for every lost soul and His desire for their restoration.
John 21:15-17 – Restoration of Peter
“When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?’ He said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.’ He said to him, ‘Feed my lambs.'”

Galatians 6:1 – Restoration in the Community

Ephesians 2:14-16 – Christ as Our Peace
“He Himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in His flesh the dividing wall of hostility…that He might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.”
Christ’s work on the cross not only brought about individual restoration but also broke down barriers between people, promoting unity and peace. This reconciliation with God and each other is a profound aspect of restoration in the Christian faith.
Romans 8:21 – Liberation from Decay
“that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.”

Closing Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for paying the full price of our sickness and sin on the cross. Thank You for restoring our relationship with God our Creator by becoming the atonement and sacrificial lamb, and by baptizing us with Holy Spirit so we may pass away to the fallen world, and be reborn into God’s grace. We ask that you reveal any unforgiveness in our heart, known or unknown, so that we may repent and be closer to You. We surrender our lives to you fully and we ask that you make straight our paths so we may walk according to Your will for us.
We declare the blood of Jesus from the top of our head to the soles of our feet and an infilling of the Holy Spirit in every vacant part. We declare the release of the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.
We declare Your glory across humanity, sweeping through the darkness with marvelous light. To You God, the Father, to be the glory forever and ever. We declare we will arise, and shine Your light into the world!
In Jesus’ mighty name!
AMEN
